Bokmål · nb-NO
GRAMMATIKK · BOKMÅL

Possessives

A possessive can follow a definite noun: familien min. It agrees with the noun: min, mi, mitt, mine.

The rule, step by step

  1. Min agrees with the owned noun, not the owner’s gender: bilen min, huset mitt.
  2. After the noun, the noun is normally definite: boka mi. Before it, use mi bok.
  3. Min, din and vår vary, while hans, hennes and deres do not change with noun gender.

Sentence pattern

bilen min / min bil · huset mitt · barna mine
