Hassan noticed that he often picked up his phone while talking to his family. He answered messages and forgot what the others had said. He therefore suggested trying an evening without notifications. Everyone put their phones on a shelf before dinner. At first it felt unfamiliar, and the children asked what they should do. They brought out a game they had not used for a long time. During the game they began talking about small events from their day. Although Hassan missed his phone a little, he listened better than usual. Afterwards he checked his messages and found that nobody needed an immediate reply. The family did not decide to stop using phones. They just wanted to try having an evening like this every week.
