Question word order

For yes/no questions put the verb before the subject: Har du …? With a question word: Hvor bor du?

The rule, step by step

  1. Use question word, finite verb, then subject: Hvor bor du?
  2. With an auxiliary, the infinitive follows later: Når skal du reise? Do not add å after skal.
  3. When the question word is itself the subject, do not add another subject: Hvem kommer?

Sentence pattern

Hvor + bor + du? · Hvem + kommer?
