Plans with skal

Use skal followed by the infinitive without å to express a plan: Lina skal hjelpe.

The rule, step by step

  1. Skal commonly expresses an intended or planned action: Vi skal reise.
  2. After skal, use the infinitive without å. Skal, not reise, is the finite verb.
  3. Depending on context, skal can also express obligation. Vil may express a wish or prediction.
